October 08 2025
AUBURN, Ala. - On Oct. 3, 2025, Auburn Police, with assistance from the Opelika Police Department, arrested Tonya Lashonta Holloway, age 39, from Valley, Alabama, on grand jury indictments charging her with identity theft and three counts of theft of property third degree.
The arrest stems from Auburn Police receiving a report involving forged checks on July 27, 2023. A victim reported that multiple checks were mailed to the intended recipients from a location in Auburn between March and July 2023. While in transit, the checks were stolen, altered and deposited into bank accounts associated with multiple unknown suspects.
At the conclusion of a multi-jurisdictional investigation involving fraudulent checks and mail theft, this case was presented to a Lee County Grand Jury. Holloway was indicted on charges of identity theft and three counts of theft of property third degree. Additional suspects were also indicted with additional arrests pending.
On Oct. 3, 2025, Holloway was located by the Opelika Police Department and arrested in obedience to the indictments. She was then transported to the Auburn Police Department and subsequently moved to the Lee County Jail and held on a $9,500 bond.
All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
